Terms of use

Last updated 4 November 2026. These are the same terms that come with the app.

These terms are an agreement between you and Amrithesh S Menon ("the author", "we") about your use of Pulse, the Pulse website and anything you download from it ("Pulse"). By downloading, installing or using Pulse you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Pulse.

1What Pulse is

Pulse is a free desktop companion for Windows and macOS. It shows information about Claude Code sessions running on your computer, lets you respond to Claude Code's permission requests and questions, and offers extras such as media controls, lyrics, notes, reminders, timers, a launcher, a file tray and clipboard history. It is a hobby project made available at no cost.

2Your responsibility for what you approve

Pulse can show you permission requests from Claude Code, for example to run a command, edit or delete a file, or install software, and lets you Allow or Deny them. You are solely responsible for every request you approve, whether in Pulse or in Claude Code itself, and for the consequences, including changes to or loss of files, code, data, settings or systems. Read each request before you approve it. Keep backups of anything important.

3No warranty

Pulse is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, availability, security and non-infringement. We do not promise that Pulse will be error-free, that it will work with every version of Windows, macOS, Claude Code or other software, that reminders, timers or notifications will always go off, or that information shown in Pulse (such as usage limits, lyrics or session status) is correct or complete.

4Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, code, profits, revenue, business, goodwill or time, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Pulse, even if we were told such damage was possible. Where liability cannot be fully excluded, the author's total liability to you for all claims is limited to the amount you paid for Pulse, which is zero.

5Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the author from any claim, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Pulse, from requests you approve through it, or from your breach of these terms or of any law or third-party right.

6Changes Pulse makes on your computer

When you choose Connect, Pulse adds its own entries to your Claude Code settings file (~/.claude/settings.json) and keeps a backup next to it (settings.json.pulse-backup). Disconnect removes only Pulse's entries. If Pulse is moved to another folder, it updates its own entries the next time it starts. Pulse can also open when you log in if you turn that on, watch your Downloads folder if that setting is on, and change your system volume when you use its volume control. On macOS it may ask for permission to control Spotify or Music and to record the screen (for "Look at my screen"); you can refuse or withdraw these at any time in System Settings. You are responsible for checking that these changes suit your setup.

7Privacy

Pulse runs on your computer and has no account system. It does not send your data to the author. Some features contact other services, only when you use them:

Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, which apply to your use of them.

8Third-party services and trademarks

Pulse is an independent project. It is not made, endorsed, sponsored or supported by Anthropic, Microsoft, Apple, Spotify, GitHub, LRCLIB or any other company. "Claude" and "Claude Code" are trademarks of Anthropic, PBC. Other names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility. Your use of Claude Code and any other third-party service is governed by that service's own terms, and you are responsible for following them, including any usage limits.

9Unsigned software and security warnings

Pulse may not be code-signed or notarized, so Windows or macOS may show a warning when you first open it. Only download Pulse from its official download page. We are not responsible for copies obtained anywhere else, which may have been altered.

10Acceptable use

Do not use Pulse to break any law, to harm any person or system, or in breach of the terms of any service it connects to. Do not use Pulse in situations where its failure could lead to death, injury, or serious physical, environmental or financial harm.

11Licence

Your right to use Pulse is described in the Pulse Software Licence (LICENSE.txt), which is part of these terms.

12Changes and ending

We may change these terms or stop offering Pulse at any time. The version included with each release applies to that release. You may stop using Pulse at any time by quitting it, choosing Disconnect, and deleting its folder.

13General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect, and the unenforceable part is limited to the minimum extent necessary. Some places do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case they apply to the fullest extent your local law allows.
